Georgia Shankel’s work glows and gleams on canvas

I know that her work is oil on canvas, but the phosphorescence in Georgia Shankel’s work makes me wonder if her brush hasn’t been suffused with pure, brilliant light.

The effect of her sedate work in color is results in a striking dimensional appeal.

The layering in “Field of Green” is unexpected and thoughtful, the gentle turmoil of “Triptic” is mesmerizing, and “Ariel” radiates an electric energy.

With the talent that flows from her other passions, specifically in film, advertising and art direction, I count us lucky that she endeavors into the fine arts realm at all. As it is, she does endeavor, and work is esoteric, meaningful and more than a little profound.

I couldn’t agree more! Georgia’s work is phenomenal. I hope that you all get the opportunity to see it in person. It’s even more beautiful than on your computer screen!

  2. I have long been an admirer of Gerogia’s work. She has an innate “knowing” of where things go and how to use form, color, and texture. Thank you for making this sharing happen.
