♥starkart.org is a place for people in Northeast Ohio (and beyond!) to discover awesome artists who are living, learning & creating in Stark County, Ohio. If you’re an artist, the best way for you to use the site is to submit your portfolio and become a hearted-artist – an artist that we promote on our site for free!
How can being a hearted-artist on ♥starkart.org help me?
Being on ♥starkart.org is a great opportunity to showcase your work to the Stark County community! Once we heart your art, you’ll get a special “Hearted-Artist” feature on our homepage, and a permanent mini-gallery on our site that links out to your professional website or provides visitors your contact info. Best of all, this promotional opportunity is FREE, and it only takes a few minutes to submit your portfolio. When people come to ♥starkart.org, they can rate and comment on your art – and we’re sure they’ll heart your art like we do!
How can I become one of your featured, hearted-artists?
With one simple form, you can apply to become an artist we heart! Send us your artist bio, artist statement and a portfolio of high-resolution photos, video, audio or other formats that show off your work, along with some other important info. We heart artists on the basis of artistic talent and quality of submissions. Our decisions are FINAL. We’re looking for artists of all ages, all media and all creative stages.
Do I have to be a professional artist to submit to ♥starkart.org?
No. In addition to professional artists (those who make part or all of their income from the sale of their art), we also accept submissions from students (artists still receiving their art educations) and amateurs (those of you who are passionate about art, who have the creative itch, but don’t make a living from it). No matter where you’re at, we’d love to receive a submission from you!
What qualifies as “art”?
We don’t like to be too strict when we define the indefinable. Webster’s defines “art” as: the conscious use of skill and creative imagination, especially in the production of aesthetic objects. We accept submissions in almost any medium you can think of – visual and fine art, the performance arts, even the written word! Examples of work we love: paintings, drawings, sculptures, pottery, metals, jewelry, photography, graphic design, digital arts, architecture, furniture design, mixed media, singing, dancing, instrumental performances, poetry and other creative writing, etc. The list goes on and on! I submitted my portfolio, what now?
First off, THANKS! We’re thrilled you sent us your work. We’re reviewing it now and you should receive a confirmation email within 2-3 days (if you don’t receive an email, you can check in with us). We select a hearted-artist every other week, and we make our picks based on artistic talent and the quality of submissions. That means you may not become one of our hearted-artists for several months, and submitting your materials does NOT guarantee you’ll become a hearted-artist. If you submit your art and don’t get hearted, don’t be discouraged – you can resubmit new materials any time you like! You can even send us new work once you have been hearted and we’ll add it to your portfolio.
What’s The Lounge?
Our hearted-artist lounge is a place for artists and art-lovers alike to hang out, kick back and talk about the art scene in Stark County. You can create your own member profile in the lounge and share what’s happening on some of the other social media sites you may be a part of! Anyone can join in the art convo over at The Lounge, and if you’re thinking of submitting your portfolio, or you ♥ our site, we hope you’ll head on over!

Stark County, Ohio, is BRIMMING with unbelievably talented artists and we’re becoming a haven for the arts. We’re doing our part to support this awesome growth of the arts in our community with ♥starkart.org, but there are many, many other arts and community organizations that support the artists, educators who develop artists, and the Stark County residents that buy local art. Thanks to this outpouring of support, the arts are and will continue to thrive in Stark County!
