ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sue Steiner began her professional art career when she was hired to paint a series of life-sized farm animals at Lehman’s in her hometown of Kidron, Ohio. She continues to work on the murals as an ongoing ‘work in progress’ as she paints during store hours as a demonstration. Steiner also helps to connect fellow Ohio Arts and Crafts Guild members with Lehman’s to bring a variety of demos to the store.
In 2008, she opened up a small studio in the Annex above Second April Art Gallerie and had a great time during the monthly First Fridays opening her studio to the public. In 2009 she moved into a larger studio space, dubbed “White Horse Studio,” in the ‘Studios’ section of Second April’s second floor.
Steiner is a self-taught artist. She continues to favor animal subjects and accept pet commissions and horse portraits. She also enjoy flowers, nature, people and figures as subjects.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My art can best be described as expressive, colorful and lively. I love painting large and dramatically, but also have many gentle, flowing floral watercolors. I think its safe to say I love painting faces and closely cropped images. I paint in a range of styles from detailed and realistic to slightly abstract, expressive and playful. My work is evolving.
