ABOUT THE ARTIST
Thom Metz is originally from the Canton South area. He was a professional photographer and lab technician at 16, and it was his passion until his early twenties, when a career change consumed him, and other priorities took over while his Hasselblad gathered dust.
After managing implementation of communication systems in ten states and living in five regions for several years, Metz returned to Ohio. While teaching, he delved into the digital world to show students the fundamentals for web based applications and, in turn, he has returned to the creative world of photography.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My focus is on capturing an intriguing moment in time – that’s what memories are made of! I strive to create a mood illustrated by light and shadow that makes you step back in time or take another look at familiar subject. I tend to shoot in infrared and rendered in a semi-monotones reminiscent of B&W photography and color.
