MEDIA

He works mainly in digital photography, but that is only the beginning. Almost everything starts with a photograph and it evolves from there. He likes to call it “Art Photography.”

WORK AVAILABLE

The one and only place his art is available is at The Dreg Spot, located on the second floor of 2nd April Galerie at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton, Ohio.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a self taught artist. Everything I do is done by trial and error and reading books. I don’t have a list of schools that I’ve gone to or degrees and honors that I’ve earned. I won a citywide art contest when I was in the 3rd grade. I made a watercolor and crayon painting of a cemetery. I probably never thought about art again until my brother Brennis Booth and his partner Todd Walburn moved to Canton and opened 2nd April Art Gallery. I just knew that I wanted to be a part of it. So I found an old 35mm camera in my dad’s closet and started taking pictures.

At my first show (which was also 2nd April’s first show) I sold a picture of an out of focus red rose. At that point I realized that there no rules in this art game, which suits me just fine. From there I moved into digital and computer arts which opened up a whole new world for me. Suddenly there were no limitations and I could be as creative as I wanted to be.

I never really considered myself an artist until somebody stole some of my art at a gallery in Akron. I figured that if some one was willing to go to jail for a picture I did then I must be doing something right!

Since then, there have been a bunch of art shows, a whole lot of fun, one almost-death, then some more shows, the big move for 2nd April and then a big move for me into my own studio, The Dreg Spot. Putting my my own art in my own studio means one thing – more freedom! Hey some of it’s great and some of it sucks, but it’s all mine and it screams “Uncle Dreg.” I don’t know if this is what you would call an artist bio, but it sure is a kick ass story!
